Anime Network On Demand is showing Saiyuki Gaiden, episode 1! If they follow through, I'll get to see the series after all. It's dub, but these are the original dub VAs, so that's cool. So far I'm not impressed by the art though.

I've been inundated by so many zombie shows on TV recently that I got a weird AU Saiyuki thought from it that I don't think I'll follow through on. Gojyo comes across Gonou lying in the road with his guts hanging out but while Gonou isn't totally dead he also isn't truly alive. Thus far I'm finding Saiyuki Reload Blast somewhat disappointing. ( spoilers )

saiyuki_time's current challenge is to write a fic showing "what it is that Sanzo finds so fascinating about his newspaper."

My immediate thought is that he stashes his porn magazines in it, but that's a sentence, not a fic. *g*

The final chapter of Saiyuki Reload is... wow. That was definitely satisfying.

I saw all the material that's collected in Saiyuki Reload volume 9 as scans with translations next to them months ago, but seeing it on paper and fully integrated makes it hit harder for me. The material here is hugely important to the plotline arc as well as the arc of the entire series. ( spoilers )

I really like most of what Minekura does, so my meh reaction to Wild Adapter surprised me. Kubota was too Sociopath Stu for me, though the Komiya stuff kept me interested in volume 1 even despite the fact that Komiya's main role was to proclaim how wicked-cool Kubota is. I used to look at the subs vs. dubs debate as a matter of preference and some folks feeling that keeping the original voice actors' voices is purer. I can see that.
